What causes wet dreams? Wet dreams are common to both boys and girls especially during early age such as in puberty. However it may occur anytime during lifetime.

What are wet dreams? In case of boys it is an ejaculation; in case of girls vaginal lubrication during sleep. Commonly used term is nocturnal emissions. Ejaculation may occur with or without an erection.

They are often triggered by sexual dreams. Wet dreams are natural and nothing to feel embarrassed about.

Sometimes individuals wake up during nocturnal emission; or they sleep through it. In some cases males, after ejaculation of semen it is possible they also urinate.

How frequently do they occur? In females there is very little statistics available. Not everyone has wet dreams. While some might have it only once in a lifetime, some have it more often, few times in a month.

It is thought masturbation reduces a number of nocturnal emissions but not dramatically. There is a huge variation between individuals. Some races may have also a little higher rate of nocturnal emissions.

They most frequently occur in adolescent years during puberty. But they happen in later years as well. Wet dreams are not considered masturbation as thought by some.

As wet dreams are not consciously done these are not looked at to be a sin. In different religions these maybe considered as ‘impure ‘and is followed by cleansing, which is different depending on religion.
